A woman was hit and killed by a Metra Rock Island District train in south suburban Tinley Park Wednesday.

Outbound Train 511, scheduled to arrive in Joliet at 12:55 p.m., hit the 25-year-old woman about 12:30 p.m. near the 80th Avenue station in Tinley Park, Metra and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. She has been pronounced dead.

Trains were running up to 20 minutes behind schedule, Metra officials said.

An autopsy released Thursday ruled the woman’s death a suicide.
