The tornado warning and watch issued Wednesday for south suburban Illinois and northwest Indiana counties were canceled Thursday morning.

The National Weather Service canceled the watch and warning about 3:15 a.m. Thursday. Pontiac, Fairbury and Forrest in south suburban Livingston County were under the tornado warning, meaning a tornado has been spotted in the area.

Other Illinois counties south of Interstate-80 — Grundy, Will, Kankakee, Ford and Iroquois — and Lake and Porter counties in northwest Indiana were under a tornado watch.

The weather service recommends residents be ready to take shelter quickly and have several reliable ways to receive alerts in inclement weather.
