Two baby penguins were just born at the Shedd Aquarium.

One of the Magellanic penguin chicks hatched Friday. Its sibling’s head poked out Monday.

Their biological parents, Chile and JR, tended to one of the eggs and are caring for the young bird.

The second egg was given to a foster pair, Howard and Georgia, to raise.

By having the chicks raised by two different pairs, each chick gets more individual attention and more birds get parenting experience, the Shedd said in a news release.

The penguins come on the heels of two other well-publicized births.

A western lowland gorilla was born at the Lincoln Park Zoo on May 12. And an eastern black rhinoceros calf was born at the zoo Sunday.

A gorilla, a rhinoceros and two penguins walk into a bar.

We’re still working on the punchline.
