The body of a male was found floating, police said.

Police are investigating the death of a man whose body was found Friday afternoon in the Cal-Sag Channel in the southwest suburban Palos Heights.

Troopers were called to the channel about 4:10 p.m. near Harlem Avenue and College Drive and found 52-year-old Elton Deron, of Blue Island, floating in the water, according to Illinois State Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The results of an autopsy conducted Saturday were not immediately released pending further investigation, the medical examiner’s office said.

State police detectives are investigating.
