A 28-year-old man was shot Saturday in the Near North Side.

About 1:45 a.m., five males approached him in the 400 block of North State Street, according to preliminary information from Chicago police. One of them took out a handgun and shot him in the leg.

The man was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where his condition was stabilized, police said.

He refused to give officials further information, police said.

No one is in custody as Area Central detectives investigate.
