An 86-year-old man was fatally struck by a vehicle Monday in northwest suburban Barrington Hills.

Officers responded about 5:43 p.m. to Dundee Road near Potter Lane for a vehicle crash involving a pedestrian, Barrington Hills police said.

Nick Santoro was found and pronounced dead at the scene, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

The driver stayed on the scene and cooperated with investigators, police said. Dundee Road was closed between Bateman and Healy roads until about 10:30 p.m.

An autopsy released Tuesday found that Santoro died of multiple injuries from the crash, the medical examiner’s office said. He lived in Barrington Hills.

The crash remains under investigation, police said.
