A woman was killed Thursday after struggling over a weapon with someone in West Garfield Park.

About 1:30 a.m., 34-year-old Lisheka Haggard was with a male inside a home in the 4300 block of West Wilcox Street when one of them pulled out a gun, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

The two began to fight over the weapon and it discharged, striking Haggard in the head, authorities said. She was dead at the scene.

An autopsy Thursday found Haggard, who lived in West Garfield Park, died of the gunshot wound and ruled her death a homicide, according to the medical examiner’s office.

The male is being questioned by Area North detectives and charges are pending, police said.
