Two people were injured Wednesday when a truck and SUV crashed into each other in Park Manor on the South Side.

Emergency crews responded to the intersection of 71st and State Streets about 6:50 a.m. for reports of a “bad accident” involving a truck and SUV, according to preliminary information from Chicago police.

Someone driving north on State Street tried to turn onto 71st and struck the passenger side of a vehicle that was eastbound on 71st, police said.

One person was taken to St. Bernard Hospital and another was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, police said. Their conditions were stabilized. No further information about the victims was immediately known.

The driver of the vehicle that was eastbound on 71st was cited for failure to reduce speed and disregarding a traffic light, police said.
