The FBI is offering up to $10,000 for information leading to a person of interest in the case of a missing Gary woman found dead in the south suburban forest preserve.

James McGhee, 38, is wanted for questioning in the death of 27-year-old Sidne-Nichole Buchanan, FBI spokeswoman Chris Bavender said in a statement.

The FBI believed it recovered Buchanan’s body Monday in the Thornton-Lansing Road Forest Preserve, Bavender said.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office confirmed her ID Wednesday. An autopsy to determine her cause of death is pending.

Buchanan was reported missing after she was last seen July 27 with McGhee at a concert in south suburban Tinley Park, Bavender said.

The FBI is offering up to a $10,000 reward to information leading to the whereabouts of McGhee.

Earlier in August, the FBI offered a reward for information about Buchanan.

“Our investigation has revealed that Sidne was last seen in Illinois but we have evidence that she was in Indiana after that. The presumption is she was taken across state lines against her will until we find evidence to the contrary,” FBI Supervisory Special Agent Mike Peasley said at the time.

Anyone with information is asked to call the FBI’s Indianapolis office at 219-942-4655. Tips can remain anonymous.
