A Metra BNSF train partially derailed in a train yard Thursday in the South Loop.

A single car slipped off the rails shortly before 1:30 p.m. as it was being moved within Metra’s BNSF Railroad Yard at 432 W. 14th St., according to Metra spokeswoman Sylvia Cooper. The car remained upright.

There were no passengers aboard because the train was still in the yard, Cooper said. No Metra employees were injured and no equipment was damaged.

The derailment is not expected to have any effect on train service, according to Cooper.
