1 killed, 1 wounded in East Garfield Park shooting

A 33-year-old man was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Two men were wounded, one fatally, Sunday in East Garfield Park on the West Side.

About 9:25 p.m., the pair where standing outside in the 3200 block of West Congress Parkway when a group of men walked toward them and at least one of them opened fire, Chicago police said.

Adonta Scott, 33, was struck in the chest and rushed to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. He lived in the same block where he was shot.

A 41-year-old man was struck in the leg and also taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where he is in good condition, police said.

No one is in custody as Area North detectives investigate the shooting.
