A man was hit by a minivan and seriously injured Monday in north suburban Beach Park.

Shortly before 6 a.m., the 30-year-old Waukegan man was walking south when the 2014 Dodge Caravan hit him in the outer southbound lane of Sheridan Road north of Yorkhouse Road, according to the Lake County sheriff’s office.

The man “had a partial arm amputation, and he was bleeding significantly” when officers arrived, the sheriff’s office said. A deputy applied a tourniquet to the man’s arm and he was taken in critical condition to Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.

The 29-year-old Zion woman driving the minivan stayed at the scene and is cooperating with investigators, the sheriff’s office said. No charges or citations have been issued.

Authorities said the man was not wearing reflective clothing.

The case remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit.
