Two suspected shoplifters were taken into custody Tuesday while three others remain at large after crashing into an empty squad car while attempting to flee a store in west suburban Woodridge.

That morning, officers responded to calls of suspected shoplifting at the Kohl’s department store, 1001 75th St., in Woodridge, Woodridge police said. Once police arrived, the alleged shoplifters attempted to flee the scene, crashing into an empty police car in the process, police said.

Two of the suspects where arrested in a nearby residential area, police said. Authorities are searching for three additional people — two women and a man — all thought to be in their late teens to mid-20s.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Woodridge police at 630-719-4740 or 911.
