Two men were shot, one of them killed Sunday in Back of the Yards on the South Side.
The two men, 56 and 47, were on the sidewalk about 5:45 p.m., in the 1900 block of West Garfield Boulevard when someone walked up to them and opened fire, Chicago police said.
Jerry L. Williams, 56, was struck in the neck and the 47-year-old was hit once in the elbow, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. He died from his injuries at the University of Chicago Medical Center.
The 47-year-old man has had his condition stabilized at the same hospital, authorities said.
Area Central detectives are investigating.
