A 49-year-old Georgia man killed himself Sunday with a gun he rented at a range in north suburban unincorporated Zion.

The man rented a gun from 5 Star Firearms, 41666 N. Sheridan Rd., about 11 a.m. and proceeded to the range they have on site, the Lake County sheriff’s office said.

Video surveillance shows that once he arrived, he shot himself “in what appears to be an intentional act,” the sheriff’s office said. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Operators for 5 Star Firearms did not respond to a request for comment. An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.

The Lake County sheriff’s office and coroner’s office are investigating.
