“The Devil Wears Prada,” a new stage musical with music by Elton John and based on the 2006 hit film, will make its pre-Broadway world premiere in Chicago next summer.

“The Devil Wears Prada” will debut at Chicago’s James M. Nederlander Theatre July 14, 2020, Broadway in Chicago announced Tuesday.

In addition to John, the show’s creative team boasts lyrics by Shaina Taub, book by Paul Rudnick, and it will be directed by Steppenwolf artistic director Anna D. Shapiro.

Like the movie, the musical will center around Andy, an aspiring writer in New York City who starts working at a fashion magazine under a boss that makes her life a living hell. The film was adapted from Lauren Weisberger’s 2003 novel of the same name.

Casting will be announced at a later date.

Groups of 10 or more can now purchase tickets at broadwayinchicago.com, and individual tickets will go on sale later.
