A man was killed in a single-vehicle crash Sunday in north suburban Round Lake Beach, according to police.

Officers were notified at 12:30 a.m. of a crash on Rollins Road at Hook Drive, Round Lake Beach police said. There, they found a black 2010 Chevy Camaro that had struck a traffic light pole at the intersection.

Investigators determined the vehicle was eastbound on Rollins when it veered to the right side of the road, crossed a sidewalk and hit the pole head-on, police said.

The driver, a 32-year-old man from Wauconda, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The Lake County coroner’s office has yet to release the man’s identity, and an autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.

Round Lake Beach police and and the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team are investigating.
