Cardi B ‘[bleeping] mad’ about her sexual assault at magazine shoot

Cardi B is getting candid about her personal #MeToo experience.

The rapper sat down with radio host Angie Martinez during an upcoming episode of We TV’s “Untold Stories of Hip Hop,” where she opened up about being sexually assaulted at a magazine shoot.

“I will never forget how I went to shoot for this magazine and the photographer, he was trying to get close to me, like, ‘Yeah, you want to get in this magazine?’ Then he pulled his [penis] out,” Cardi said during a preview clip from the episode, which airs Thursday.

Although she didn’t reveal the magazine or photographer’s name, or when the incident took place, Cardi added, “I was so [expletive] mad, and I was just like, ‘This is crazy.’”

The “Money” rapper said she reported the incident up the ladder. But to her surprise, Cardi said the owner wasn’t phased by the photographer’s inappropriate behavior.

“You know what’s so crazy? I told the magazine owner and he just looked at me like, ‘So? And?’” she recalled, imitating how the owner shrugged his shoulders at her.

Cardi, 26, continued: “When I see the #MeToo movement — there’s girls from the hood I know that went through the same type of treatment, like they make you feel like you got to do a certain type of thing for the most (expletive). … It happens, really, every day.”

Cardi previously opened up about her experience to Cosmopolitan in 2018, where she voiced skepticism on whether the #MeToo movement would inspire change in the hip-hop industry, especially for performers who flaunt their sex appeal.

“When I was trying to be a [video] vixen, people were like, ‘You want to be on the cover of this magazine?’ Then they pull their [penises] out,” she said. “I bet if one of these women stands up and talks about it, people are going to say, ‘So what? You’re a ho. It don’t matter.’”

However, at this point in her career, the mother of one said she doesn’t get any more inappropriate behavior from collaborators. Cardi told Martinez, “Oh, hell no. I’ll put you on blast on my Instagram,” where she has over 50 million followers.
