Chicago Transit Authourity trains were stopped Sept. 26, 2019, during the evening rush in Rogers Park because of a person who was hit by a train and killed.

A person died after being struck by a CTA train Thursday in Rogers Park on the North Side.

Officers responded to a “medical emergency” on the tracks about 5:45 p.m. at the Jarvis Avenue CTA Station, 1523 W. Jarvis Ave., and found a female on the tracks who was pronounced dead at the scene, Chicago police said.

The woman is believed to have intentionally jumped in front of the train, police said.

CTA suspended service to Red, Purple and Yellow line trains to allow for a police investigation, the agency said. About 8 p.m., Red and Purple Line trains resumed service, but were running with residual delays.

Yellow Line trains resumed regular service about 9:40 p.m., the agency said.
