A male driver fleeing police crashed into two unmarked police cars Sept. 26, 2019 and avoided capture in Oakland on the South Side.

A male driver fleeing police managed to avoid capture after crashing into two unmarked police cars Thursday in Oakland on the South Side.

About 9:15 p.m., police were attempting to stop a male driving a Cadillac SUV they believed to have been hijacked in the 900 block of East 41st Street, Chicago police said.

The driver sped off from officers, striking two unmarked squad cars, police said.

No officers were injured in the crash, police said. The driver of the SUV is not in custody.
