Man wounded in Gresham drive-by

The man was struck multiple times and taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center were he was stabilized, police said.

A 49-year-old man was wounded Sept. 27, 2019 in a drive-by in Gresham on the South Side.

A 49-year-old man was wounded Friday in a drive-by in Gresham.

About 8:35 p.m., he was on the sidewalk in the 7800 block of South Essex Avenue when he was approached by someone driving a dark-colored Jeep who fired shots at him, Chicago police said. He was struck five times in the lower body.

The man was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center were he was stabilized, police said.

No one is in custody as Area South detectives investigate.
