A 23-year-old man was fatally shot Saturday in Avondale on the Northwest Side.
About 12:45 p.m., Johnathan Barajas was inside of a vehicle in an alley in the 2800 block of North Rockwell Street when someone approached him and fired shots, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.
Barajas was struck in the neck, chest and stomach, officials said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
An autopsy conducted Sunday confirmed he died of his gunshot wounds and ruled his death a homicide, the medical examiner’s office said. He lived in Avondale.
No one is in custody as Area North detectives investigate.
