Man in custody after barricading in Evanston home

An Evanston man is in custody after barricading himself from police Tuesday afternoon.

Evanston police responded to a call of shots fired about noon in the 1800 block of Dodge Avenue, according to Commander Ryan Glew.

When they arrived they learned a person had fired shots at someone and then retreated into their residence, Glew said.

Residents were advised to avoid the 1700-1800 block of Dodge Avenue and surrounding streets.

About 2:30 p.m. the man was taken into custody without incident, Glew said, and there were no injuries reported.

He was not charged with any offense, according to Glew.

Evanston police are still investigating the initial incident.

The victims were sitting in a parked car in the 4100 block of West Taylor Street when they were shot, police said.
The man was in the 1000 block of West 105th Street when he was fatally shot, police said.
The men were in the 600 block of West Barry Avenue, police said. Two were in good condition and one was in serious condition.
