A person died after being struck by a Metra train Thursday morning in suburban Maywood, a Metra official said.

The collision between Metra UP-W train no. 42 and a pedestrian happened about 10:30 a.m. at 5th Avenue and St. Charles Road, the official said.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office confirmed that a male died in the incident, but hasn’t released additional details.
