NBA All-Star Weekend 2020

This year’s basketball showcase features everything from Chance the Rapper to Kobe Bryant tributes.

The NBA’s annual All-Star celebration arrives in Chicago this weekend. And whether you’re a fan of Dr. James Naismith or Chance the Rapper, there will be something to catch your interest. It’s the city’s first All-Star Game since the 1988 event at Chicago Stadium.

Events ranging from concerts to town halls tied to basketball and the sports community are scheduled throughout the weekend.

As for actual gameplay, the All-Star Celebrity Game, the Three-Point Shootout and the Dunk Contest will serve as the traditional opening acts for Sunday’s game. The Los Angeles Lakers’ LeBron James and the Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo are this year’s team captains. To honor the late Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna, Team LeBron will wear No. 2 and Team Giannis will wear No. 24. Players on both teams will wear patches with nine stars, commemorating the nine people who died in the helicopter crash that killed Bryant and his daughter.
