Five people, including two Chicago officers, were injured in a crash Thursday in Grand Crossing on the South Side.

Officers in an unmarked squad car tried to pull over a Dodge Challenger about 8:40 p.m. and the driver sped off, Chicago police said. The officers were following the car when the driver reversed at a high rate of speed and struck the unmarked squad car in the 1200 block of East 75th Street.

Two officers were taken to a hospital in fair condition, police said.

The 24-year-old man driving the Challenger was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in serious condition, police said. Two passengers, a 23-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man, were taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in fair condition.

A third passenger, a 22-year-old woman, refused medical treatment, police said.

Charges are pending, police said.
