A woman was killed in a multi-vehicle crash Monday in west suburban Forest Park.

Officers responded to reports of a car fire about 3:15 p.m. in the 1400 block of Des Plaines Avenue and found a three-vehicle crash, Forest Park police said.

Beverly Harrison’s vehicle’s was on fire, and officers extinguished the flames while motorists helped another officer who was giving her aid, police said.

According to preliminary information, Harrison was southbound on Des Plaines when a northbound vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed hit another vehicle, police said. The driver of the northbound vehicle lost control and struck Harrison’s car.

The 62-year-old was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, where she was pronounced dead, police said, adding she is from Louisiana.

The driver of the northbound vehicle was taken to the same hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said.

Police said alcohol may have been a factor in the crash.
