Da Coach is back, but fans probably should change his nickname to Da Manager.

Former Bears coach and Pro Football Hall of Famer Mike Ditka will co-manage the Chicago Dogs during the team’s home opener on May 22 against the Sioux Falls Canaries. The Dogs play in the independent American Association.

Fans will receive a bobblehead depicting Ditka wearing a Dogs-inspired sweater. The team will play in Ditka-inspired jerseys that will be auctioned off with proceeds benefiting The Gridiron Greats Assistance Fund.

Former Cubs pitcher Carlos Zambrano played for the Dogs last year.

The Dogs play at Impact Field in Rosemont.
