The Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant and his wife Jessica announced on social media the birth of their new son, Kyler Lee Bryant.

Kyler was born on Tuesday, April 7. It is the first child for the couple, who grew up in Las Vegas, dated since their freshman year of high school and were married Jan. 7, 2017.

“I think this is really what I’ve been put on this Earth to do, is be a dad,” Bryant said Feb. 28 during an in-game interview during Spring Training on the Marquee Network. “Obviously I play baseball pretty good, but I’m just so excited [for] this new journey with my wife and my family. Honestly, I think this is going to be one of the best years of my life.”

In November, they announced the pregnancy in a video posted on their Instagram accounts: “The Journey Continues: April 2020.”
