A 42-year-old man died days after he was shot last week in south suburban Chicago Heights.

Jermaine Fleming was shot about 1:53 p.m. April 14 in the 200 block of East 14th Street, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He was pronounced dead just before noon two days later at the University of Chicago Medical Center.

Fleming, who lived in South Chicago Heights, died of a gunshot wound to the head, the medical examiner’s office said. His death was ruled a homicide.

Chicago Heights police didn’t immediately respond to a request for details.
