High school bass fishing in Illinois will not have a state tournament this spring because of the statewide restrictions brought on by the coronavirus.
Most of us expected this decision, but, on Tuesday, the Illinois High School Association Board of Directors “announced its decision to cancel all IHSA spring state tournaments.”
That included both spring sports and activities. Bass fishing is listed as an activity.
Bass fishing held its first state tournament on Carlyle Lake in 2009. All state finals since than have been held on Carlyle Lake. Until the cancellation this year.
