An Elmwood Park man died last week of complications from injuries he suffered in an attack eight years ago in the west suburb.

Valhalla Johnson, 47, was pronounced dead at 5:55 p.m. May 20 at Gottlieb Memorial Hospital in Melrose Park, the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. 

He was assaulted Jan. 5, 2012, in the 7700 block of West Grand Avenue in Elmwood Park, the medical examiner’s office said.

Autopsy results released Friday found he died of complications from blunt force head injuries, and ruled his death a homicide, the medical examiner’s office said.

Elmwood Park police did not immediately respond to a request for details.
