A 15-year-old Harvard girl has died after a single-vehicle crash Monday near Woodstock.

The crash happened in the 10500 block of Charles Road in an unincorporated area near Woodstock, the McHenry County sheriff’s office said in a statement.

A 17-year-old girl was driving a Mitsubishi Raider about 2:40 p.m. when it left the roadway while trying to pass several vehicles and crashed into a utility pole, the sheriff’s office said.

The 15-year-old passenger was taken to Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee and later pronounced dead, the sheriff’s office said. The 17-year-old was released in good condition from Northwestern Hospital in Woodstock.

An investigation into the crash in ongoing, the sheriff’s office said.

On June 4, a 7-year-old boy died in a vehicle crash near at US Route 14 and Washington Street in Woodstock.
