A Calumet City man died after being struck by a vehicle Monday in the south suburb, police said.

Authorities responded to a call of a crash about 2:15 a.m. in the 500 block of Douglas and found the 29-year-old in the middle of the street with severe head trauma, Calumet City police said in a statement.

The man, identified as Carlos Suncin by the Lake County coroners office, was taken to Franciscan Health Hospital in Hammond, Indiana, where he was pronounced dead. A ruling on the cause and manner of his death was pending.

Calumet City police and the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force are investigating.
