Oddsmakers are giving the Cubs and White Sox only a so-so chance of winning the World Series.
SBD has listed the Cubs at 15-1 and the White Sox at 16-1 to win the championship this year. The Dodgers at 9-2 and Yankees at 9-1 are the favorites.
The numbers look a lot better for the Sox’ Jose Abreu and Luis Robert. Abreu is the favorite for the American League MVP at 3-1 odds. The Twins’ Nelson Cruz is next at 4-1. Robert (1-1 odds) is the favorite to win AL Rookie of the Year. Next is the Mariners’ Kyle Lewis at 11-10.
Rick Renteria (15-1 odds) trails the Rays’ Kevin Cash (2-3 odds) and the Athletics’ Bob Melvin (4-1 odds) for the AL Manager of the Year award.
The Cubs’ Yu Darvish, at 7-1 odds, is in a distant second place behind favorite Trevor Bauer of the Reds (1-3 odds) in the National League Cy Young race. Speaking of huge favorites, the Indians’ Shane Bieber is listed at 1-75 odds to win the AL Cy Young.
