Keep the wet naps handy. There’s a new way to get a Cheetos and chicken wing fix at the same time.
Cheetos-flavored chicken wings and cheese bites, which are like fried cheese curds, are on the menu at the new online-only delivery restaurant Cosmic Wings. The virtual brand is part of Dine Brands, parent company of Applebee’s and IHOP.
Hungry diners can order Cosmic Wings via the Uber Eats app. The food is then prepared at nearly 1,300 Applebee’s restaurants nationwide before being delivered by Uber Eats. Through Feb. 28, there will be no delivery fee on orders of $15 or more.
The Cheetos-inspired boneless and traditional wings are smothered in exclusive Cheetos or Cheetos Flamin’ Hot wing sauce, said Chef Stephen Bulgarelli, culinary lead of Cosmic Wings.
“People love wings, they love Cheetos, and they want delivery. Our virtual brand delivers on all three,” Bulgarelli said on a call about the products that were developed with Frito-Lay North America, part of PepsiCo. ”The Flamin’ Hot is going to knock your socks off.”
The Cheetos items, including the cheese bites, are coated with Cheetos dust — either regular or spicy depending on the flavor — which is officially known as “Cheetle.”
“You will see orange on your face, you will see red on your face,” Bulgarelli said. “It’s part of the experience.”
There also are non-Cheetos-flavored wings, including barbecue, buffalo and sweet Asian chili, and the brand has chicken tender dippers, waffle fries and onion rings. Learn more at www.cosmicwings.com.
Cosmic Wings isn’t the only online-only wing brand.
Last summer, Brinker International, the parent company of Chili’s and Maggiano’s, rolled out its first virtual concept, It’s Just Wings, through DoorDash. The wings are made in more than 1,000 restaurant kitchens.
