The train hit the person near the Villa Park station around 6:30 a.m. Monday, a Metra spokeswoman said.

A pedestrian was struck and killed by a Metra Union Pacific West train Monday morning in Villa Park.

The train hit the person around 6:30 a.m. at Villa Avenue, just east the Villa Park station, Metra spokeswoman Meg Reile said. The person was pronounced dead.

Trains remained halted near the station until around 8:30 a.m., she said.
