Nashville Predators vs. Anaheim Ducks Analysis

The Preds are coming off a 6-3 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs where Filip Forsberg became the franchise’s leading goal-scorer with his 211th for the Preds.

Matt Duchene added to his career-high in goals with 32nd of the year, which made it 5-2 at the time. Roman Josi leads Nashville in scoring with 17 goals and 58 assists, as he makes his case for the Norris trophy.

Anaheim’s previous outing was a 3-0 shutout loss to the Florida Panthers, which was John Gibson’s sixth straight start without a win.

Troy Terry leads the Ducks with 29 goals and 23 assists, but most of the attention has been on rookie Trevor Zegras’s breakout year. Zegras has 16 goals and 28 assists and is one of the Calder trophy favorites.

Nashville is 12th in the NHL in scoring, averaging 3.26 goals per game, while Anaheim is 22nd with 2.80. The Predators are 11th in opponent goal-scoring, allowing 2.79 goals per game, while the Ducks are 19th with 3.11.

Against the puck line, the Preds are 36-26 and 21-11 on the road, while the Ducks are 38-26 and 18-14 at home.

One trend to consider is the over is 7-0 in Anaheim’s past seven games when their opponent scored five or more goals in their previous game. Additionally, the over is 4-0 in the Predators’ past four when their opponent scored two or fewer in their previous game. It seems like we almost have to take the over bet with trends like those.

There’s no question that Nashville is the better overall team and their odds are pretty attractive for an outright wager. We ride the momentum of Forsberg and Josi, banking on the Predators coming out on top.
