DETROIT — Here’s a look at who’s rising and falling after the Bears’ 34-17 loss to the Lions on Thursday:
RISING
Special teams — The Bears might have posted their best special teams day of the season, led by Pat O’Donnell’s three punts inside the 20, Marc Mariani’s competent returning and Robbie Gould’s first made field goal since Oct. 12.
Jared Allen — The Bears’ defensive end had the Bears’ only two sacks, three of their five quarterback hurries and their only forced fumble and fumble recovery Thursday.
Lions on holiday — The Lions have now won two-straight Thanksgiving games for the first time since 1999 and 2000.
FALLING
Facemask? — Willie Young’s third-quarter sack of Matthew Stafford should have put the Lions at third-and-19. Instead, he was flagged for roughing after touching his helmet.
Marc Trestman said officials said he grabbed the facemask, and he disagreed.
“No one play makes a difference,” he said. “But that was certainly an important play.”
Roberto Garza — The Bears’ center was called for holding on consecutive second-quarter drives. Both came on second down, and killed the possession; in each case, the Bears punted three plays later.
The Dropsies — The Bears — and Brandon Marshall — had a case of them Thursday. “He had a couple drops,” quarterback Jay Cutler said.
