Bears guard Kyle Long out against Lions with hip woe

Kyle Long is out Sunday with a hip injury.

And then there were five.

Kyle Long became the last of the Bears’ five starting offensive lineman to miss a game with injury, as the right guard was declared inactive 90 minutes before Sunday’s game against the Lions.

Michael Ola will play right guard, and rookie Ryan Groy left, in his place. Ola will have to deal with Lions star defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh, who earlier this week called Long “a guy that, obviously, is going to be a great guard in this league.”

Long did not practice Friday with a hip injury described by coach Marc Trestman as simple soreness.

He will be joined on the sideline by safety Chris Conte (back) and defensive tackle Will Sutton (illness) and kicker Robbie Gould (right quadriceps), along with cornerback Terrance Mitchell and defensive end Trevor Scott.

David Fales is inactive, making quarterback Jay Cutler the second-string quarterback.
