Bears coach John Fox and defensive coordinator Vic Fangio are trying to figure out where every player fits best in their move to a 3-4 defense.

But when it comes to inside linebacker Jon Bostic, Fox and Fangio are forced to take a wait-and-see approach.

Bostic has been dealing with a back issue all offseason. He has watched the Bears’ organized team activities and wasn’t present on Wednesday.

Bostic also sat out the Bears’ voluntary minicamp April 28-30. Fox said then that Bostic was dealing with a “little twinge” in his back.

Fox was asked Wednesday during OTAs about what he has seen from Bostic this offseason.

“Nothing,” Fox replied. “He hasn’t been at practice.”

Bostic, the 50th overall pick in the 2013 draft, has started 17 games over his first two seasons. According to Bears coach reviews, he had 127 tackles, including 62 solo stops, last season.

Bostic is competing against Shea McClellin, Christian Jones and Mason Foster at inside linebacker. McClellin and Jones have been complimented by Fox and Fangio.
