A quick look at the Chicago-area draft prospects who are participating in the NFL Scouting Combine:
C Jack Allen, Michigan State
High school: Hinsdale Central.
Comment: A decorated four-year starter, Allen can be compared to former Bears center Olin Kreutz, according to NFL.com.
OL Fahn Cooper, Ole Miss
High school: Crystal Lake South.
Comment: Cooper started in place of teammate Laremy Tunsil, who is projected to be the first overall pick, for seven games last season when Tunsil was suspended.
RB Josh Ferguson, Illinois
High school: Joliet Catholic.
Comment: A versatile player with good receiving skills, Ferguson improved his stock during the East-West Shrine Game’s practice week.
OL Graham Glasgow, Michigan
High school: Marmion Academy.
Comment: Glasgow was a three-year starter at Michigan, but a DUI arrest and a probation violation will give him questions to answer.
DL Dean Lowry, Northwestern
High school: Rockford Boylan.
Comment: Lowry was a second-team All-Big Ten selection last season, making 13½ tackles for loss and three sacks.
LB Antonio Morrison, Florida
High school: Bolingbrook.
Comment: Morrison, a tackling machine for the Gators, overcame a serious knee injury suffered in his junior season. He has off-the-field questions after arrests in 2013.
FB Dan Vitale, Northwestern
High school: Wheaton Warrenville South.
Comment: Vitale excelled in Northwestern’s hybrid “superback” position, but he impressed teams with his blocking as a prototypical fullback at the Senior Bowl.
WR Laquon Treadwell, Ole Miss
High school: Crete-Monee.
Comment: Treadwell is considered the best receiver in the draft. ESPN draft guru Mel Kiper Jr. compared him to Bears receiver Alshon Jeffery.
