Needing a defensive lineman to help fill the void left by Akiem Hicks, the Bears signed veteran Brent Urban, according to his agency, CAA.
The 6-7, 300-pound Canadian started all 16 games for the Ravens last year, his fifth after they drafted him in the fourth round out of Virginia. He played 62 snaps over four games for the Titans this year before being cut Saturday.
The Bears will lean on Urban, and others, as they try to sort through their run defense without Hicks, the Pro Bowl player they put on injured reserve last week with a left elbow injury.
Can’t wait to get after it!!!!!! 🐻⬇️ https://t.co/mT4jidPF2R

Before their fifth game, the Bears had allowed only one 100-yard rusher in regulation over their previous 39 contests. That player was the Vikings’ Latavius Murray in 2017. Sunday, Murray — now the Saints’ second-stringer — became the second-straight opposing player to eclipse 100.
