The Bears have found “a little bit of rhythm” with tight ends JP Holtz and Jesper Horsted, Nagy said. They combined to catch seven passes for 92 yards Thursday in the Bears’ first game with both Trey Burton and Adam Shaheen on injured reserve.

Holtz, who plays the blocking “Y” position, signed with the Bears in September. Horsted, a pass-catching “U,” was activated off the practice squad last month.

“They’re so new to us as coaches,” Bears coach Matt Nagy said. ”And not knowing exactly what their strengths and weaknesses are. We have an idea of it, but I think the other thing too is that you had two other guys in Trey and Adam that were a little bit beat up and hurt physically. They weren’t 100 percent. You have two other guys that come in and are 100 percent and they have different types of talent. So we’re trying to figure out the best way to use them.

“I want to credit them, especially J.P. Holtz; here’s a kid that’s come in here and done everything that we’ve asked and he’s helped us out at that ‘Y’ position.”
