Bears coaching changes: Matt Nagy announces offensive moves, promotions

The Bears officially filled their remaining coaching vacancies Thursday, hiring Bill Lazor as offensive coordinator and John DeFilippo as quarterbacks coach. Coach Matt Nagy also promoted quarterbacks coach Dave Ragone to pass-game coordinator. The Sun-Times reported the three moves earlier this week.

Brian Ginn, who spent the last two years as the Bears’ offensive quality control coach, was named assistant special teams coach under Chris Tabor. He was a teammate of Nagy’s at Delaware and coached 17 years with the Fightin’ Blue Hens.

Chris Jackson, Nagy’s former Arena Football League teammate and the Bears’ defensive assistant last year, was named assistant wide receivers coach.

Shane Toub — whose father Dave is the former Bears special teams guru now working for the Chiefs — was named defensive quality control coach. He spent the last two years as a Bears offensive assistant.

The team hired offensive line coach Juan Castillo and tight ends coach Clancy Barone earlier this month.
