Bears quarterback Mitch Trubisky practiced in full Wednesday, while Nick Foles wasn’t present at all.

That gives Trubisky an edge to start Sunday’s rivalry game against the Packers — even if head coach Matt Nagy didn’t say so Wednesday. He called Foles “day-to-day” with a hip injury, and said he would monitor each player’s availability as the week wears on.

He said Trubisky would be ready, if needed.

“If he is going, I have all the confidence in the world in him,” Nagy said.

He said Trubisky has learned while watching from the sideline since he was benched in the Falcons game.

“I do believe in my heart of hearts that he has grown from this situation,” Nagy said. “I do believe that he will be a better player because of it.”

Trubisky has played exactly one snap since he was benched during the Bears’ third game for throwing a third-quarter interception — and that play didn’t go well. He took a “Wildcat” run left against the Saints on Nov. 1, was tackled and hurt his right shoulder.

He visited a specialist in Los Angeles, who said he didn’t need surgery. The Bears did not put him on injured reserve, a move that indicated he could return within three weeks.

Foles was carted off the field in the final minute of the Bears’ 19-13 loss to the Vikings after being thrown to the ground while throwing an incomplete pass. His injury wasn’t as bad as the Bears’ first feared; they didn’t put him on injured reserve, either.

The Bears won all three of Trubisky’s starts — though the third one was rescued by Foles, who led a furious rally in the fourth quarter against the Falcons. As a starter, Foles has gone 2-5, beating the Buccaneers and the Panthers but losing the last four games the Bears have played.

Nagy left open the possibility the team would switch quarterbacks entering the bye last week and again when he spoke Monday.
