Bears coach Matt Nagy hints that QB Mitch Trubisky will start vs. Lions on Sunday

Bears coach Matt Nagy didn’t give a definitive answer, but it appears he will go with Mitch Trubisky at quarterback Sunday against the Lions. He made his return as the starter against the Packers with Nick Foles out because of a hip injury.

“I thought Mitch did a good job,” Nagy said. “I would probably prep for [him starting against the Lions], but I’ve gotta see where Nick’s at. I thought how he played yesterday, with the situation we’re in, I don’t see why not.”

The Bears are coming off one of their most embarrassing performances of the season, a 41-25 thumping by the Packers on Sunday. It was 41-10 going into the fourth quarter.

They hoped Trubisky would spark the offense , but he did not. He threw an interception in the end zone and lost a fumble for a Green Bay touchdown in the second quarter.

He finished 26 of 46 for 242 yards with three touchdown passes and two interceptions for a 74.7 passer rating.

While Foles’ injury was not as severe as the Bears initially feared, he was out of practice all last week and was inactive Sunday. Nagy has been noncommittal about him being the starter even once he’s healthy enough to play.

At 5-6, the Bears are one game out of the final playoff spot in the NFC. They host the 4-7 Lions on Sunday.
