With the draft behind them and free agency mostly wrapped up, the Bears now have a clear picture of what their roster will look like this season. As they get to work putting together a plan, here’s a look at some key questions about what they’ve assembled the last two months:

Who was the most important veteran the Bears acquired this offseason?
Of the biggest names they landed, Robert Quinn is by far the most surefire contributor. The absolute best thing about this team is its pass rush, and the trio of Khalil Mack, Akiem Hicks and Quinn will be overwhelming.

The Bears’ best draft pick was …
Tulane wide receiver Darnell Mooney. This could be a gem in the fifth-round. While wide receiver wasn’t the most pressing need going into the draft, it was significant. Mooney, who clocked 4.38 seconds in the 40-yard dash at the combine and averaged 20.7 yards per catch as a junior, has the potential to leapfrog Anthony Miller to become the Bears’ No. 2 receiver.

Grade Ryan Pace’s 2020 draft …
B+. Pace did the simple, smart thing in the draft. Nothing cute, no smartest-guy-in-the-room delusions. He addressed major needs at tight end and cornerback with his second-round picks, then rounded it out with reasonable bets on Mooney, defensive end Trevis Gipson and cornerback Kindle Vildor. The knock on this class, though, is that Pace didn’t choose a quarterback. The guy who said he wanted to draft a quarterback every year keeps failing to do so.

What’s the expectation for Cole Kmet in 2020?
It has to be something reasonable. No one, in or out of the organization, should bank on Kmet being the next Rob Gronkowski. Whatever your most modest projection of what he could be in 2020 is, dial it back just a little. Tight ends usually aren’t ready to thrive until their second season. The Bears have needs, though, so the hope should be something around 500 yards receiving. And they’d still need something from Jimmy Graham in that case.

Which veteran is most in danger of being released before the season starts?
Kicker Eddy Pineiro. The Bears didn’t bring in Ramiz Ahmed just to keep things interesting. Pineiro, who was 17th in field goal percentage last season, is fighting to keep his job.

Should the Bears pick up Mitch Trubisky’s fifth-year option?
Yes, because there’s minimal risk in it. If he plays well, they have him secured to play or trade. If not, they can escape the $24 million they’d owe him in 2021 by releasing him in March as long as he can pass a physical.

With the schedule coming out in a week, which matchup intrigues you most?
The Texans coming to Chicago. It’ll be the second consecutive season in which the Bears host one of the quarterbacks they bypassed in the 2017 draft to take Trubisky. Deshaun Watson will come in with a point to prove, and it’ll be a big test for the Bears’ defense.

Did the Packers drafting Jordan Love help or hurt them?
It’s a great pick. Love is raw, but the upside is huge. And the reality is Rodgers isn’t going anywhere soon. Love will get the same advantage Rodgers had of getting a few seasons to adjust and learning under a Hall of Famer.
