Bears tight end Eric Saubert was put on the NFL’s reserve/COVID-19 list Wednesday. He went on the list for testing positive or being in the presence of someone who was infected.

Saubert had two catches for 21 yards after joining the team in the middle of last season. He is one of eight tight ends — including rookie Cole Kmet and free-agent signings Jimmy Graham and Demetrius Harris — competing for about five spots.

Saubert played 30 games in his first two seasons with the Falcons, catching five passes for 48 yards.

The Bears spent Wednesday morning talking to reporters about how they’re prepared to enact coronavirus protocols throughout their facility. Rookies reported to camp last week, and running back Artavis Pierce was put on the reserve/COVID-19 list. Nose tackle Eddie Goldman opted out, a move that was made official Wednesday.
