Bobby Hull and Pierre Pilote won’t be playing for the Blackhawks in the Jan. 1 Winter Classic.

It’ll just look like it.

The Blackhawks on Wednesday revealed their jerseys for the New Year’s Day outdoor game in Washington at Nationals Park against the Capitals. Unlike Washington’s uniforms, which are a mash-up of the area’s hockey history, the Hawks will be wearing white uniforms that look similar to what they wore during the 1957-58 season.

Though the sweaters look similar to what the Hawks currently wear on the road, there are some differences. The collar is a lace-up with a thin black stripe. The tomahawk C secondary logo is colored differently and moves from the shoulder to on top of the familiar black-red-black arm stripes, and the lettering and numbering is solid black with a slightly altered font.

“I like the look of it,” said Brandon Saad, who replaced the injured Patrick Sharp as the jersey’s model. “I’ve never worn it before, so that’ll be interesting. But right now it’s pretty exciting to be wearing it here today.”

The pants and socks are the same as the current road set.

This season’s Winter Classic is the third outdoor game for the Blackhawks. They hosted the 2009 Winter Classic at Wrigley Field wearing uniforms inspired by the late 1930s. Last season they beat Pittsburgh in a Stadium Series game at Soldier Field wearing a look very similar to their old black third jersey but with altered stripes and a chromed logo.
